First, thank you so much for this website and app! I find it very motivational to be able to track my progress as well as better understand all of the things I am consuming!

One suggestion: I would love to see a feature on the app that uses GPS to track time, distance and calories burned when walking, running or bike riding. Once done, click "finished" and the app enters your exercise into into your database.

Again, thanks for the great tool!

Suggestion about Y axis on graphs - flatline on main site

Can we have more realistic values for the Y axis on the main site, perhaps in line with those used on the Android App?

In the last 30 days I have lost about 5lb.
On the Android App the 30 day graph shows a lovely downward line.
On the main site, it looks almost flat.

This is because on the Android app, the Y axis shows values for a more customised range of 133 to 138lb, whereas on the main site, the Y axis is set at 100lb to 140lb - so instead of a nice encouraging downward trend, the graph looks pretty much flatline. This setting cannot be necessary, who is going to lose 40lb in 30 days?

Same with hips, Android app shows Y axis values of 39 to 40.5 inches, the main site shows a Y axis value of 30 to 42 inches. I'm NEVER going to get to 30 inch hips, not without shaving bone off my pelvis anyway.

I know it sounds like a minor niggle, but I find that clear downward trend, on both my weight and my measurements, to be extremely encouraging. :smile:

My husband and I are both using this program and are constantly having to log in/out all day (on the weekends otherwise he is at work). It would be nice if we could somehow toggle between to accounts.

automatically subtract BMR from exercise minutes

it would be awesome (and really, necessary) to include a feature that automatically "removes" base metabolic rate calories (that would be been burned anyways) when exercise is entered.

For example, my HRM showed 340 calories burned in 40 minutes - so i have to calculate 40 times 1.5 (my BMR) and then subtract that from the total = 280. It would be so easy for the site to do that for you automatically and would prevent overestimation!!!!

I like to see how much nutrients i am getting from my food and multivitamins i am eating. Unfortunately, the nutrients summary fails to include some important ones such as vitamin d, zinc, omega 3, etc. Maybe the developers can add to the app an option to add nutrients to the summary?...

Percentage of Carbs/Proteins/Fats

I'd like a colored pie chart that tells me on a daily and weekly basis what percentage of my intake foods make up carbs, proteins, and fats. I find myself looking over what I've already eaten for the day to help decide whether I need more protein or carbs to keep up with my fitness levels.

And maybe a suggestion for others about what percentages could be beneficial for their goals. (higher percentage of carbs for cardio days. higher percentage of proteins to shred fat.)

Add 30 day Shred to the MFP Exercise Database

As you know, many of us are using the 30 Day Shred and various other exercise DVDs. It would be wonderful if MFP added these to our exercise database at the varying Levels. Since it works both cardio and strength training...it is impossible for us to log this exercise in as MFP is currently programmed. Thanks :)

calories burned for weight lifting

I would like to suggest that you add calories burned for strength training/weight lifting not just cardiovascular workouts. I go back and forth between this website and Lose It and one of the things I like about Lose It is it gives you calories for strength training. My Fitness Pal has a wider selection when looking up foods and I like that better than Lose It. However, Lose It makes it a little easier to add meals as it has the ability to add a meal already inputted. My Fitness Pal is not as convenient when I have eaten something for dinner that I then want to add as my lunch the next day.

On another diet site I used (not as good as MFP!) they had one feature that we don't have here and that was the ability to create profile photo albums - very similar to what you can do on Facebook. Someone here was wondering (as was I) about before/after pics - if MFP were to be able to provide an option for profile photo album(s), people could create not only an album with a before and after pic, but they could (if they wanted) post photos of progress at different weight markers of their choosing. The visual could be really helpful motivation, and very inspiring to others.

I am always looking for the exact item, with corrects amounts in the database. When I find it I am having to copy it to my add to diary page. Can you put an ADD to Diary button on the database page, Please.

Add a "time stamp" to the meal record

Please consider adding the ability to let the user enter the time of day for every meal and snack.

As a diabetic, it is very important to me to correlate my carbohydrate intake with my glucose test results to calculate the appropriate insulin dose. Right now, I have to manually record the time I eat each meal and snack. So, I'm keeping THREE different records: foods using myfitnesspal, insulin dosing using RapidCalc and a paper record fpr the meal times. It would be really nice if I could record the mealtimes in myfitnesspal.

Is there a setting for diabetics Type1)? There is no way I'm going to eat 224 carbs a day..lol I didn't know if there is a setting that can give me appropriate goals...If not I think it would be a great change to make to the site.

Weight report

When I view my progress report for my weight or measurements, I would like to be able to view past entries as a list of dates and entries. And when viewing the graph, I don't like that it shows the same weight from the previous day if nothing new was entered. I would rather have it show a straight line when nothing new was added, instead of a graph point.

Other than that, I really love the site! Thank you!

Unit conversion

I've seen a couple people respond that they add duplicate food because of the units it's measured in. If there's a known quantity of the food, if you guys could build in some kind of automatic unit conversion I think that would be helpful.

Or perhaps give everything a baseline to compare it to other foods - either 1, 10, or 100 grams. Then, we could just multiply the quantity to get the exact amount.

One of my favorite foods is Grapefruit 100g. I multiply the quantity by say 3.4 to get the exact amount I ate.

Wish there was the ability to add "my foods" from my food diary. Perhaps add an icon next to the delete icon (on far right of food entry) that says "add to my foods" or something similar.

There should really be a breastfeeding option that adds the extra 500 calories that are needed to breastfeed. I hate having to keep track of it in my head. :)

it would be nice in the guided set up if you could adjust the break downs for carbs/fat/protein

That way I could easily set up say a zone diet or a low carb diet without having to resort to the advanced settings

Kilojoules or Calories

Many of the food labels (well here in New Zealand in any case) only label in kilojoules and not calories which is a bit confusing as I must admit that I didn't really know the difference. It would be great to have the option to enter either Kj or Kcal when entering foods so that the 2 don't get mixed up by others new to the game! Love the site though, great work!!!

I don't know if anyone else is on board with this, but I'd like to have a little area where I can record how many hours I slept the prior night. If I can keep track of the water I drink, I could keep track of how many hours of "zzz's" I get, right?

Recipe Edit ideas

I know that currently recipe's cannot be edited, which is kind of annoying. Scratch that, very annoying. I have feeling that it's because the database creates a new entry for every so called version of a recipe.

One idea I had to counter that is let he recipes be edited, but when you add a recipe to your meals it adds the portioned ingredients to your diary and not the recipe name.

Example, you want to add the recipe: Brian's fiesta tacos. So you go to recipes and add 'Brian's fiesta tacos' 1 serving. So then it would import to the diary '3 oz ground beef', '1oz sour cream', '1 oz cheese', '1 tortilla', etc... instead of '1 serving Brian's fiesta tacos'.

I'm not sure where else to put this suggestion, but this seems to be the place.

I just want to edit my recipes because while I generally use the same ingredients in the same recipes, I usually change things up a bit depending on what I have to cook with. Just an idea. Feel free to have anyone contact me for other ideas about managing the database. I'm an engineer and I'm telling you that if I knew exactly why the feature is not built in, I could think of a way to fix the problem and make it work.

Why, when you click to read a topic, can you sometimes only see the original post? I will often post, thinking I'm the first to respond, and then once I've submitted, find that I have simply restated what 10 people already said! It would be nice to see the entire topic originally, so that I can see if I have anything unique to add.

I would really like a copy button (save as feature) for my recipes. I make a lot of the same simple things to eat, but switch up ingredients often. For example, I make a cabbage wrap with hummus, feta, and veggies and want to be able to switch out the veggies for ham, but....I have to re enter the whole recipe. If I could just save as and then edit that recipe and save it as a different recipe that would be fantastic!

Ability to create groups

It'd be awesome if we could create groups here on MFP. You could track goals and weight loss by group. Also each group would have a home page or personal message board or something like that. Kind of like Facebook groups, I guess! For example, I have a group of about 12 girls who are all on MFP and we are participating in a biggest loser competition. It’d be so nice to have us all in a group where we can connect and see each others progress!

Bowel movement log

Weird request, but I think it'd be really great to have a bowel movement log on MFP. That way, we could have a way to see how our diet could be directly linked to our bowel movements to see what works and what doesn't work for us.

Any thoughts?

Set Body Measurement Goals?

I think being able to set body measurements as a goal would go a long way towards helping with scale obsession. A really close friend of mine has lost at LEAST a whole dress size but her scale isn't really moving downward. That is discouraging for her, but being able to get an eletronic attagirl when she achieves a measurement goal would go a long way toward boosting her self-esteem.
